mercury found in food we feed our kids.

I was reading this article from mother earth news
Titled :Another Reason to Avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup: Mercury
There was a list of food on this link

Researchers tested 55 products and found mercury in nearly one-third of them, including Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup, Nutri-Grain Strawberry Cereal Bars, Jack Daniels Barbecue Sauce and more.

How did the heavy metal get in there? In making HFCS — that “natural” sweetener, as the Corn Refiners Association likes to call it — caustic soda is one ingredient used to separate corn starch from the corn kernel. Apparently most caustic soda for years has been produced in industrial chlorine (chlor-alkali) plants, where it can be contaminated with mercury that it passes on to the HFCS, and then to consumers.
nearly one-third of 55 popular brandname
food and beverage products where HFCS is the first or second highest labeled
ingredient—including products by Quaker, Hershey’s, Kraft and Smucker’s.
HFCS use has skyrocketed in recent decades as the sweetener has replaced sugar in
many processed foods. HFCS is found in sweetened beverages, breads, cereals, breakfast
bars, lunch meats, yogurts, soups and condiments. On average, Americans consume
about 12 teaspoons per day of HFCS. link To more information

Well I never! What will they find in our food next! It is scary to think to deeply about these things, or it would frighten the socks off of my feet...Now I'm almost afraid to eat my morning cereal.
