It has been a nightmare Living thew the last 12 almost 13 months. It is a long story. But I will sum it up as. Aug 2017 I went into the hospital unable to eat. I had a blockage that was a carcinoid tumor. They removed it and 12 inches of large intestine. They took out 48 lymph nodes. 8 was cancer. This put me into stage 3 cancer. I went home. And my intestines fell apart. Oct 4 I was back in hospital. Kept alive on ventilator. I had sepsis. I was kept alive and went thew HELL! They put an ostomy bag on me. It was HELL! I was declared cancer free.

March 27 I had the bag removed. April ct scan showed tumors forming in my liver. June. Dr's thought I had a hernia. Another scan done and blood work. They did not see any hernia. They said, nerve and fat layer damage from surgery causing pain. So nothing done. I received email over 2 day times. Last one has high CGA So, I called cancer dr. She said have MRI. It showed Tumors in Liver. Had Biopsy July. Even more Tumors. It was not the slow carcinoid Tumors I have before. Intermediate, faster growing type.
I am now stage 4 Liver cancer.
Now, I am going thew ups and downs. I took an Octreotide shot. Got really sick. Yet doing better in other ways. I went back the 28th. She said no shot. She did not know I went to ER with in 24 hours of shot. So, I have to wait till 25th of this month. To see what will happen next.

In the meant time. The 27th. Hubby informed me. He is not going into an assisted living place with me. He wants a devorce. So now I have lost my mind. Oct 16, 2018 I will be a single person. I am going to have to learn to be by myself. And I am crying and afraid of what the future hold for me.
I now have the results of both the MRI and Cat scan. Now, I have to figure out what to ask the Dr or Dr's. The set up an Endoscope for Oct, 19. 2017. The colonoscopy from 9-5, 2017 did not go in far enough to see anything. I am posting this here for now to get advice from friends what to ask.
When the Dr called she said I have a 3x3cm mass that may be cancer. And/or crohns.

MRI Abdomen

Report
MRI examination of the abdomen (MR enterography protocol)
Indications: Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Recent small bowel
obstruction. Evaluation of the terminal ileum for possible mass versus
stricture.
Comparison: CT 8/10/2017.
Technique: The study was performed at 3 Tesla MR scanner. Examination
included multiple MR images of the abdomen and pelvis in different
pulse sequences and different imaging planes before and after IV
contrast administration.
Findings:
The examined portions of the liver and spleen are unremarkable. No
focal lesions. The gallbladder is absent. No biliary ductal
dilatation.
The pancreas, adrenal glands and both kidneys showed no significant
abnormality. Left renal a few tiny hepatic cysts. No collecting system
dilatation.
Redemonstration of multiple dilated loops of small bowel in the
abdomen and pelvis measuring up to 4.2 cm, for example series 25 image
39. Again, there is abrupt change in caliber of the dilated small
bowel loops in the right lower quadrant at the level of the masslike
enhancing lesion measuring 2.7 x 2.8 x 2.7 cm, for example series 29
image 52 and series 25 image 50. Multiple adjacent tethered and matted
bowel loops are redemonstrated in the right lower quadrant.
A few borderline enlarged upper abdominal and right lower quadrant
mesenteric lymph nodes, likely reactive. Multiple nonenlarged
abdominopelvic and bilateral inguinal lymph nodes are also seen. No
ascites.
The urinary bladder is unremarkable. The uterus is present. Left
ovarian small functional cysts.
The imaged abdominal and pelvic vasculature is unremarkable.
Conclusion:
1. Redemonstration of multiple dilated loops of small bowel measuring
up to 4.2 cm with abrupt change in caliber in the right lower quadrant
at the level of a 2.7 x 2.8 cm masslike enhancing lesion. Findings are
likely to represent sequela of active inflammatory bowel disease. The
enhancing mass could be of inflammatory/neoplastic etiology.
2. There are multiple adjacent tethered and matted bowel loops in the
right lower quadrant, suggestive of entero-enteric fistula.
3. A few borderline enlarged upper abdominal and right quadrant lymph
nodes, likely reactive.

Cat scan

EXAM:
CT of the abdomen and pelvis with IV contrast. Coronal and sagittal
reformats.
COMPARISON:
No comparison.
FINDINGS:
There is diffuse distention of ileal small bowel loops, with a focal
transition point noted approximately 12 cm from the ileocecal junction
(series 2 image 98). The ileum proximal to this transition point is
dilated up to 4.3 cm and is edematous. Ileum distal to this transition
point is decompressed. There is no significant inflammation of the
mesentery. No abdominal free fluid or free air.
The lung bases are clear. The liver, cholecystectomy changes, spleen,
and pancreas are normal appearing. There is a 1.2 cm right adrenal
nodule. The left adrenal is unremarkable.
The kidneys, ureters, bladder, and uterus/adnexa are normal appearing.
Multiple phleboliths in pelvis.
The major vascular structures are intact. No significant
atherosclerosis. No acute osseous findings.
IMPRESSION:
1. Findings suggestive of partial small bowel obstruction, with
transition point noted approximately 12 cm proximal to the ileocecal
junction.
2. Indeterminant right adrenal lesion (no comparison exams available).
Recommend nonemergent CT adrenal protocol to further delineate.
These findings were communicated with Dr. McCray at 2337 today.
Attending addendum:
1. There are multiple dilated small bowel loops in the abdomen and
pelvis measuring up to 4 cm. Some of the dilated bowel loops show
diffuse wall thickening and mucosal hyperenhancement. Small bowel
fecal sign is seen in the right lower quadrant, series 2 images
110-103. Adjacent to this level there is abrupt change in caliber of
the dilated bowel loops with associated masslike density, for example
series 2 images 101-96. Tethering of the adjacent bowel loops is also
seen.
Adjacent a few borderline enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes. Wall
thickening and mucosal hyperenhancement of the decompressed ileocecal
junction and terminal ileal loops with similar changes in the right
side of the colon.
2. Findings are concerning for inflammatory bowel disease with tight
inflammatory stricture in the right lower quadrant. Associated
entero-enteric fistula or underlying mass cannot be entirely excluded.
Clinical correlation, continued attention in follow-up studies and/or
further assessment by MRI enterography is suggested.

President
I know you will never see this unless this post goes viral. Where everyone who reads it. Will share. I am the wife of a Vietnam Veteran. I am thankful as of August of 2016 my husband now gets the best health care of his life at the Va hospital in Columbia and Jeff city. He was among the people who were subjected to toxic drinking water at Camp Lejeune. He does not get a Va pension. So we live off of Social Security. And as you know that puts us in the poverty level of the population.
With us being in the state of Missouri. As you know. This state did not let poor people into The Affordable care act. That was created by congress. For which President Obama has received full blame. He asked congress to provide help to those who could not afford health care. He did not ask for everyone to be lumped into a health care night mare. Where price was skyrocketed. He asked to help people like me to be able to get help.

I have been really sick since May 22. I can not see a dr. They have limits as to how many cash patents they will let in. They double the price for cash patients. I called there are no clinics in my area. And St. Marys said. I could go to the Er and ask for an app for payment assistance. So in fear of how to pay. I have lived day after day in pain. I am getting better now. For a while I was only able to eat crackers, bananas and Activia yogurt. I do not like yogurt. So I make myself eat it. Because it will stay down. And I hope it is helping me. Now I am able to eat some of the veggies I grow in my garden But since I am so sick they have been neglected. And I have to buy some of them taking away more money that could pay the electric bill or for my husbands meds.

I do not mean for this to be a boohoo poor me post. I want this to make a difference. I do not want you to take the blame for signing what congress comes up with, Like President Obama did. Remembr you are the your fired person.

The answer is to stop Obama care and return insurance back the way it was for people who can pay.
Restricting insurance company's from saying no to those who have pre existing conditions, who can pay. Making Medicare open to those who can not pay. Like me. They also have a spin down of almost $300-400 a month for income of $1200 a month. That leaves a married couple $900 a month to live on. So, tell me how do they do that.

Another ideal. why can I not be seen by the VA. I am the wife of a VA Veteran?
Why not look at Canada or AU or even Hungary has free medical care. See what they do.

You may ask why I do not get Medicare. I am not old enough for SS and every year the amount of my SS dwindles to nothing. I am 57 years old. And may not make it to the age of 65 or 67. So that I can pay $120 a month for Medicare.

I am not going to go on. Please make Congress look at what they are doing. Help the people who need help. And leave the rest of the nation to pat their own way.

Thank you.
Yum. I did not have them to make this. I used the following recipe. This use to be on the can. I will put a video on this page too.

It ha been along time since made fudge. I no longer have a gas stove. So. am trying it in the Ninja cooker. It turned out ok. But, it really needs a heavy bottom pan .

The original HERSHEY'S fudge recipe
Ingredients

3 cups sugar
2/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

1. Line 8-or 9-inch square pan with foil, extending foil over edges of pan. Butter foil.
2. Mix sugar, cocoa and salt in heavy 4-quart saucepan; stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to full rolling boil. Boil, without stirring, until mixture reaches 234°F on candy thermometer or until small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water, forms a soft ball which flattens when removed from water. (Bulb of candy thermometer should not rest on bottom of saucepan.)
3. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. DO NOT STIR. Cool at room temperature to 110°F (lukewarm). Beat with wooden spoon until fudge thickens and just begins to lose some of its gloss (about 7 minutes). Quickly spread in prepared pan; cool completely. Cut into squares. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature. About 64 pieces or 1-3/4 pounds.
NOTE: For best results, do not double this recipe. This is one of our most requested recipes, but also one of our most difficult. The directions must be followed exactly. Beat too little and the fudge is too soft. Beat too long and it becomes hard and sugary.

Let me know if you have tried this. Or do try it. It is good!
I am placing it her to remember and share it. You can search the web and find it on other pages also. They specify Ritz crackers. But, I am using just a snack cracker available in my area. HiHo cracker were my favorite when I lived in St. Louis. I do not find them here. So, one must make due with what you can get.
May you all who read the enjoy it.
I will post photos when I make it.
I asked my Aunt if she knew him. She said, Yes. He called and talked to them. He has been working on the family history. I did many years of research. So she told him about me. I went ahead and added him to my friends list. And in a group of family members. I posted all I had that I was willing to share. Turns out I have corresponded with him in the past, I have no memory of that.
In 2004, I was in a car accident and hit in the head a few times. Then went into a big depression. Lost my mind. But I came out of it writing on this blog. He started posting info he collected and asked about possible connections for people who were looking for there fathers. This hit a wound in my heart. I found my real dad in 1987+ and I am not going into that story. But there is still a brother in this world, who is 3 years or so older than me. I can not find him,

When the new person on FB, was talking about a person he is trying to help. He said her mom would not say who he was. And other people will not say........ so on. It rips my heart out. That people who know, will not help people to find missing people. I have a cousin who was adopted. He has been told by someone that he was adopted too. Yet people who know will not say it is true. His mom and dad are gone. Why not tell him the truth. His real parents may be gone too. But, I think he needs closure. I can not tell him. Because. I do not have any info to help him. My parents will not tell me either.

Sometime I feel like I do not have closure. All I needed was an, (I am sorry) A real I love you. My mind is overthinking. And I want to cry. I wish the world would get over itself and tell people who the family is or was. You owe it to your kids to tell them, there life is important to you. It is never too late to find someone to be a part of your life now. It is never too late to say, I am sorry.

I will show you how to make 1/2 gallon seed started bags. And 5-7 gallon grow bags. I am using a landscaping weed blocking material. It was cheep to buy (36 inches by 50 feet). I paid $5.99 on discount. It was about $10.00 normal price.
This is the way I do it.

You can customize this the way you like it.

To make the mix combine all the dry ingredients
Mix 1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flower
add 1 table spoon of baking soda or powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
Note you can leave the sugar out if you prefer or add more

When you are ready to make corn bread
add
1/2 stick butter Melted or cut up
1 egg
Start with 1cuk milk. add up to to 2 cups milk to create a consistency of what you saw in the video. It will be a little thicker than pancake mix.

Grease cast iron pan or 8 or 9 in pan
Preheat oven to 400f or 204 c
bake 20 -30 min
.Test by inserting a fork. If it comes out clean it is done.
You can change this recipe to 2 cups corn meal 1 cup flour for a thicker bread.
Yellow corn tastes better and needs less milk and sugar. You can change any part of this to make it better for your corn. I grease the pan with butter or lard bake till to starts to brown. around 20-30 minuets temperature (424 f or 218 Celsius )
Top with butter or honey to eat

.

This is better than a Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix Copycat mix.

Simply use the dry ingredients from your normal recipe and add wet ingredients when you are ready to use.

I have been sitting here for hours. Thinking, reflecting, and deciding..
I have always chose a word to live by each year. I failed to do so last year. But, I find I did live by a word, it was grow. I grew food, seed, wisdom and friendships. It was a great year. But there were many losses. Many lesions learned.

My mind is over thinking everything right now. What do I need the most to happen in 2016? I think I need a get er done word. Accomplish something. Many things. Just do it. Light a fire under my butt and get me moving.

I have been not well the last month.
So it is hard to get up and do anything. I need to take baby steps and pick one thing per a day and get it done.
Have a wonderful Day and remember to laugh and play.
Grammyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13278964537964027566noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1348163283182498310.post-28039890783697013862015-12-06T15:05:00.000-06:002015-12-06T15:15:00.071-06:00Wry neck in Silkie chicken I never expected a crash course in chicken issues when I put that first egg in an incubator. First it was the spraddle legs issue with Fedora and the other chick.

Now Parker has what is called (Wry Neck (sometimes called Crook Neck or Stargazing) The exact cause of the condition can vary, from genetics to a head injury. It can be vitamin E or selenium deficiency, in the chick or from the parent.

The chick can turn its head around and fall to the ground at any sudden
imbalance or scare. I will add a video to show how fast this happens.

I have added Vitamin E in the form of broccoli and crushed raw sunflower seeds. Also crushed Selenium pills. As tuna is quite expensive to give allot of it to the bird. And I am a bit afraid that it may contain mercury toxins if I feed to much to it. It is a shame we have to fear the food we eat.

I am on day 7 of trying to help it. I will not give up. They say a week to 10 days. I find it comes out the the what I call sizer like episodes. The wist day it was more than 12 house of sleep for the poor baby. Now it is a few min to a hours or so. I have hope. It will get better.
Depression starts to creep in. You sometimes want to throw in the towel and give up. Till you are reminded hope is the answer. If you loose hope of a better tomorrow, you become trapped in doom and gloom.

I know once things start to go wrong in your mind. It becomes an avalanche. One thing after another. You let them become a tornado. Sometimes it is like quicksand. But all you need is a helping hand. It can be as easy as reminding yourself. (There is always hope.)

This issue of today can go away. It may not be the way you want it too. But everything in this life is temporary. We just need to be strong enough to start over. Every minute and every day is a new start. Take a deep breath and start over.
She said they were yellow onions with a strong flavor. The are definitely, multiplier onions. Where with normal onions, you plant 1 bulb, you get 1 onion. Multiplier and potato onions (you plant 1 bulb and it splits up into many onions.)

You may ask, What is a potato onion?
The original onions our ancestors grew were potato onions.
They are not uniform is size or shape. They have been passed down from parents to kids many times. They are becoming lost to the world of food.Because, everyone wants perfect uniform looking veggies. So onions have been bred for size shape and taste. This is the price we pay for commercial produce. We loose the old world heirloom foods. I am so lucky to be given this gift.

She told me "My father in law brought them to Indiana from Kentucky where they were growing wild on a property, they had years ago."

So for now. I am going to call them (The Holland family potato onion) Because he discovered this one.It is not like any other I have been looking at online.
Hi, everyone. I am so happy to say, "We know who Yokies parents are now.

Yokie has developed enough feathers to see his dad is this red pyle rooster on the left. His mom is one of the two blue Cochin frizzle hens. (They look look black with a light undertone)
Note: Both of his parents live in Georgia. Yokie was shipped to me as a egg to hatch.

Yokies baby (Tux) may turn out to be a blue frizzle, getting the color from Yokies mom.

Yokie has a few blue feathers. His rust red, orange color feathers can be called gold. But basically Yokie is a red, white and blue Calico Frizzle. LOL
It is so nice to see the family history of your pet chicken. Now anyone who gets one of Yokie and Willows chicks can look on this post and see there family tree.

Willows is a Partridge Silkie. only 2 of the 5 chicks look like her.

I like to be able to count on people doing what they say. I like honest caring responsible people. But days like today. I wish I was a kid again. I do not want to be in control of everything.

I wish I was a kid with a mom to cook, clean etc. A dad to fix everything. But, I became a mom who did it all. I could fix things, along with etc.

Today the steam carpet cleaner will not squirt out water. It has to be in the hose. I let hubby, try to look at it and he insisted on something not wrong with it. He would not listen to what I said is the issue. He went to bed. So I have to take this apart if my hands will let me. And see if I can fix it. . The plastic tubing they use for things like this, will collapse. That keeps water from flowing. I thought about using the air compressor to blow out the line.

Yet, I sit here and procrastinate. I need to do this and that. And yet, I type and type. Vent and vent in silence. I do nothing. So I sit here writing.

All along my mind is saying. Grrr. I want to be a kid again. I want someone to take care of me. I want to have fun and play on the computer like my grand kids do. LOL. I am thinking/writing out loud!

OK, this did not get anything done in my house, But it made me laugh. Or at least smile.
Have a wonderful day and remember to laugh and play.

This is Yokie he is the one I hatched from an egg May 31, 2015. He is the dad to this last one. And maybe the white ones. He is all wet from being out in the rain today. Soon I will have to decide on what little ones to let go of. I know I can not keep the ones related to him. I know some people do. But I do not wish to do so myself.
My daughter brought over the 2 newly hatch chicks to keep Fedora company. They will be full size chickens. They are a little bigger than Fedora. But they got him/her to eat. So all is well in the outlook of this chick.

They are so much fun to watch. I have to give the 2 back soon.

But Fedora will not be alone. Tomorrow, or any minute now. 4 eggs may hatch.
I hope they come out well and happy. The 2nd egg 2 days after, Fedora.Only peeped a hole in the shell. I thought the father to the chicks was a standard white silkie. But it is possible a larger rooster got to Willow. That could explain why the chicks are too big for the shell.

Soon Willows eggs will contain Yokies baby's. He is a frizzle. He is so sweet. He is always near her. When she has an egg he stand by her or cuddles up like he is going to help her sit on an egg.

Willow has no interest in hatching or sitting on an egg. She is not broody. And does not want to be with the new chicks. She will look at them That is about it.
I now wonder why the person picked, Willow to be sold. All I can do is assume, she is not a mom type of bird. Or egg issues. Maybe Willows egg size is too small. I don't know. But I hope all goes well.
You may ask, Why I am hatching the eggs?
I can not bring myself to put the egg in the fridge knowing there is life inside.
This chick was a bit big for the egg. So that may be the reason for it's condition. The sibling to this one peeped on the 22 and did not make it out of the shell. It was too big for the egg. But in the video below. I will tell you other reasons this condition can happen. And show you how I helped it.
I did not get photos of the first brace. It is in the video below.
This is the 22 of Sept I had him in lighter weight braces for his or her legs.

The 23 of Sept. I had to remove the braces , It was running and tripping with them on.I named it Fedora. I gave Fedora a teddy bear and sprinkled some food on it. So It started eating a bit more. Still not using pooing but a little once a day. .

The 24th of Sept. Fedora loves the bear. I take it outside to get sun at least 10-15 min a day. Fedora is getting stronger and has just a little issue with the right hip. But it doing very well walking.

The 25th. 2 eggs hatch at my daughters. She brings them over. Fedora is so surprised to see them. Fedora, starts eating and scratching her feet on the ground. There is still a little slipping of the left hip. But, S/he had her first normal poo.So looks like this is going to be a normal chick. :)
I am so thrilled and happy. :)
You saw a few photos in my last post. Why raise Silkie chickens?
I did not tell you the story of how this started. But some of you know from Facebook. or YouTube.
My new hen is named Willow, a Partridge silkie. She is said to be about a year old. I did not plan on raising chickens. But I find it hard to put those eggs in the fridge. Because, I know they are fertile. She was with a white Silkie rooster when I bought her.

You may ask how do I know they are fertile? The first egg laid was accidentally cracked, by my grandson. In the yoke, was a white spot with white thread like veins. Kinda like a small faint look of a bulls eye around the white spot too.

I gave my daughter the next 6 eggs. The first one hatched. on September 20, 2015. It was exactly 21 days in the incubator. It is adorable, But could not get up and walk. It is slow to start eating too. But there is hope.

My next post will be on helping this chick overcome. Splay or spraddle leg condition.

Also soon to come to this blog. :)
I now have a new incubator. It has all the bells and whistles. Egg
turner, Digital temperature control, it show humidity level. So you have
to adjust that by more or less water in the bottom.

I will also conduct an experiment, Fact or fiction?

How to tell a girl egg from a boy egg?

I have read, that more
pointed eggs would be roosters and the more rounded eggs would be hens. I also have heard this does not apply to all breeds of
chickens but does seem to work for the large breeds but not as well on bantams.

I have read using all.rounded eggs for hatching and have
resulted in about 75 % hens.
I also know if this was true for all breeds. The commercial breeders would not hatch pointed eggs. So we will see, how this works on my current eggs.

Have a wonderful day and remember to laugh and play.

Because they are fun! They are like miniature chickens. Compare pot belly pigs to real pigs. One was meant to be a pet. I raised the white one from an egg. I had a full size rock/buff orphington to go with him. But they both turned out to me roosters. The Buff names Izzy became too aggressive. He would chase the cat and pluck a few bits of fur from Silk. My other cat. Where Yokie is so sweet.
We found Willow to keep Yokie company. I could not find a younger female silkie. It took 3 month to know Yokie was a Roo. Willow is said to be about a year old. I did not realize she would be laying eggs right away. But she fits right in with the family. The cats even get along with her too.

These 5 eggs are the latest ones. They have a pink hue of color to them. They are small. Just a bit smaller than what you buy in the grocery store. She lays one every other day. So if you were to want the eggs for food. You need 2 hens to get 1 egg per a day.

Yokie started out almost full white in color. He now has a brass red color. A black or blue feather here and there. Some feathers look more brown than red. So he is turning into a calico colored Rooster. He is a frizzle. Cochin Silkie mix. I look forward to see what he looks like when matured.
I looked up free buttons. And used art rage to paint this one. And photo shop to size and turn into a ping file.
I added Thank you, E. To the talking icon. But I messed up on the circle of white. around the outside. When I tried to make the back ground clear.but I will fix it some day. LOL
But something maybe a rabbit or squirrel has taken a bite on 2 good size tomatoes. So I picked all the ones the were really close to red.

I harvested all the Barrys crazy cherry tomatoes. They have the taste of a fully ripe red tomato. They are now my favorite yellow tomato. They cluster in large groups like a grape. They are a one bite size. Next year I will plant many of these.

This is the total harvest about 6 pounds.. It it full of hybrid and heirloom tomatoes. I saved seed from tomatoes, given to me last summer. I am so glad I did. Some of these tomatoes are so big they are pulling the plants to the ground.
Some of the tomatoes are peach like in color. .
