I have been looking for relief for itching caused by the shingles
An awe, Thanks to old fashion kitchen magic. My eldest aunt in Wv and I came up with wonderful relief. She has always looked at nature as a medicine cabinet.
I did online research and knew I wanted aspirin in the mix . It is to help aid in pain management. And crushed oatmeal is used in bath water or directly on poison ivy to dry it up. One thing I did not know was the healing power of milk.
She said she used it in the eyes of her kids for infection and in the eyes of a cat.
So I used 2 crush aspirin maybe 2 tablespoons +/- can milk , as I do not have access to a cow.
And enough crushed oat meal to thicken.
After the first application I went hours with out an itch. Where hydrocortisone cream was needed every 10 minutes.
I used this magic potion, a few times and now my hives are dry and the itch is gone. I still have the pain that is not easy to control. I am on several Dr ordered drugs.
I feel awesome now that I have half the battle of the first week Conquered. I have 3-6 weeks to go.
But I am so happy I get to have Thanksgiving dinner with the kids today at Amy's Home.
Yea! for home remedies !
Have a wonderful day and remember to laugh and play.

Fantastic! I wish I had thought of something. I used to put oatmeal in a sock in bathwater when we had poison ivy. Also used sweet milk and baking soda on poison ivy. The addition of aspirin in an excellent idea!!
So glad you are welling better, well, the itching anyway. The pain free part will come, hang in there.
Alright! Nature's remedies are the best! I'm glad they are working for you. I wouldn't have thought of the milk either. But you have done well.
Hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving.
Hugs
Glad you are feeling better Grammy - you just have to ride through the pain, easy to say from here, it will pass.
take care of yourself!
Very good!It is very satisfying when you have a natural and cheap alternative to man made medicines, I'm not really keen on cortisone creams. Are shingles caused by stress? Hope you are not stressed Ernie :( Have a lovely time with our kids and grandkids :)
