The Original HERSHEY'S

I have great memorys of this fudge from my childhood. My mom would add marshmallows to it when it was read to be stirred and pored into the pan to cool She would also roll marshmallows in it to coat them with chocolate.  Yum. I did not have them to make this. I used the following recipe. This use to be on the can. I will put a video on this page too.

It ha been along time since  made fudge. I no longer have a gas stove. So.  am trying it in the Ninja cooker. It turned out ok. But, it really needs a heavy bottom pan .

The original HERSHEY'S fudge recipe
 Ingredients

    3 cups sugar
    2/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
    1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

    1. Line 8-or 9-inch square pan with foil, extending foil over edges of pan. Butter foil.
    2. Mix sugar, cocoa and salt in heavy 4-quart saucepan; stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to full rolling boil. Boil, without stirring, until mixture reaches 234°F on candy thermometer or until small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water, forms a soft ball which flattens when removed from water. (Bulb of candy thermometer should not rest on bottom of saucepan.)
    3. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. DO NOT STIR. Cool at room temperature to 110°F (lukewarm). Beat with wooden spoon until fudge thickens and just begins to lose some of its gloss (about 7 minutes). Quickly spread in prepared pan; cool completely. Cut into squares. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature. About 64 pieces or 1-3/4 pounds.
NOTE: For best results, do not double this recipe. This is one of our most requested recipes, but also one of our most difficult. The directions must be followed exactly. Beat too little and the fudge is too soft. Beat too long and it becomes hard and sugary.

Let me know if you have tried this. Or do try it. It is good!

I saw this on Facebook and will be making it for Thanksgiving dinner. I am placing it her to remember and share it. You can search the web and find it on other pages also. They specify Ritz crackers. But, I am using just a snack cracker available in my area. HiHo cracker were my favorite when I lived in St. Louis. I do not find them here. So, one must make due with what you can get.
May you all who read the enjoy it.
I will post photos when I make it.

Green Bean Casserole Cups

Servings: 6 Muffins

  • One sleeve snack crackers
  • 2½ cup condensed mushroom soup
  • 1 cup french fried onions
  • 2 cups chopped green beans
  • ¾ cup cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350˚F/180˚C.
  2. Place snack crackers and ½ cup french fried onions in food processor. Reserve 3 crackers and the other ½ cup of french fried onions. Pulse the mixture to form a fine crumb.

Is anything true any more?

I found this post on Facebook today.
I was shocked. I posted a video below. It will say more than I am writing. But I am posting the links in the words, where I looked fore more info.

This first one is the link from the FB Post

FDA Finds Majority of Herbal Supplements at GNC, Walmart, Walgreens, And Target Don’t Contain What They Claim – Instead Cheap Fillers Like Wheat And Soy Powder

I did a search with those words and only found 3 pages with the same words.

I searched snopes in front of the statment above. No info to say true/not true came up.

I searched the words (gnc supplements fake)

I found this video

It was a PBS news re posted by that channel.

A link to this was found there

It took me to this page for NY times.

I ask myself and you. How do we trust what we read or buy?

What do you think? Is this enough to make you think twice about believing everything you read? Or buying anything any more.  I do not mean to instill fear in you like some of the FB posts. I am venting and hope you question things more too. We seem to live in a world of shock now. Where we use to be innocent, and trusted everything.

Opening old wounds

I had a friend request on Face book. I asked my Aunt if she knew him. She said, Yes. He called and talked to them. He has been working on the family history. I did many years of research. So she told him about me. I went ahead and added him to my friends list. And in a group of family members. I posted all I had that I was willing to share. Turns out I have corresponded with him in the past, I have no memory of that.
In 2004, I was in a car accident and hit in the head a few times. Then went into a big depression. Lost my mind. But I came out of it writing on this blog. He started posting info he collected and asked about possible connections for people who were looking for there fathers. This hit a wound in my heart. I found my real dad in 1987+ and I am not going into that story. But there is still a brother in this world, who is 3 years or so older than me. I can not find him,

When the new person on FB, was talking about a person he is trying to help. He said her mom would not say who he was. And other people will not say........ so on. It rips my heart out. That people who know, will not help people to find missing people. I have a cousin who was adopted. He has been told by someone that he was adopted too. Yet people who know will not say it is true. His mom and dad are gone. Why not tell him the truth. His real parents may be gone too. But, I think he needs closure. I can not tell him. Because. I do not have any info to help him. My parents will not tell me either.

Sometime I feel like I do not have closure. All I needed was an, (I am sorry) A real I love you. My mind is overthinking. And I want to cry. I wish the world would get over itself and tell people who the family is or was. You owe it to your kids to tell them, there life is important to you. It is never too late to find someone to be a part of your life now. It is never too late to say, I am sorry.

How to make custom size grow bags

It is easy to hand sew your own grow bags. I will show you how to make 1/2 gallon seed started bags. And 5-7 gallon grow bags. I am using a landscaping weed blocking material. It was cheep to buy (36 inches by 50 feet). I paid $5.99 on discount. It was about $10.00 normal price.
I have made many bags. See my video from last year I made
 (1 gallon grow bags_. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iBkfHxfhpI
(Video 2) 5 gallon and 1/2 gallon bagshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhwcSVaUO_Q
This link can help you chose  what size bag to make. The more roots the bigger bag it needs.
Link to the amount of root a plant hashttp://itsgreenday.blogspot.com/search/label/Root%20depth
I stopped and found some discounted ribbon tonight.  I could add an up turned tail and make it a kitty cat.

How to make your own jiffy/quick cornbread mix

This is the way I do it.

You can customize this the way you like it.

To make the mix combine all the dry ingredients
Mix 1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flower
add 1 table spoon of baking soda or powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
Note you can leave the sugar out if you prefer or add more

When you are ready to make corn bread
add 1/2 stick butter  Melted or cut up
1 egg
Start with 1cuk milk. add up to to 2 cups milk to create a consistency of what you saw in the video. It will be a little thicker than pancake mix.

Grease cast iron pan or 8 or 9 in pan Preheat oven to 400f or 204 c bake 20 -30 min
.Test by inserting a fork. If it comes out clean it is done. You can change this recipe to 2 cups corn meal 1 cup flour for a thicker bread. Yellow corn tastes better and needs less milk and sugar. You can change any part of this to make it better for your corn. I grease the pan with butter or lard bake till to starts to brown. around 20-30 minuets temperature (424 f or 218 Celsius )
Top with butter or honey to eat

.

This is better than a Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix Copycat mix.

Simply use the dry ingredients from your normal recipe and add wet ingredients when you are ready to use.

The first day of 2016

Let me start out at saying Happy New Year to all, who reed this.Photobucket

I have been sitting here for hours. Thinking, reflecting, and deciding..
I have always chose a word to live by each year. I failed to do so last year. But, I find I did live by a word, it was grow.  I grew food, seed, wisdom and friendships.  It was a great year. But there were many losses. Many lesions learned.

My mind is over thinking everything right now. What do I need the most to happen in 2016? I think I need a get er done word. Accomplish something. Many things. Just do it. Light a fire under my butt and get me moving.

I have been not well the last month.
So it is hard to get up and do anything. I need to take baby steps and pick one thing per a day and get it done.
