Life at home

It was way too windy today to work on the garden.
My youngest daughter Tessa and her son Cullin came in Sunday and spent the night. We had a great BBQ and birthday tea party for Lady Katherine. Her birthday is April 5, 2009. And I will put up the video and photos on that day for her. She is a wonderful blog friend. And she would love it if you too would do a tea party for her. Stop by her blog and say hi. Link in her name above.

Then Monday Tessa and I took Cullen to the Mennonite store in Excelsior, Mo. We had to stop and talk to the milk cow and see the horse's drink from the creek. The one cow was so heavy she could barley walk. The others came to the fence to see us. It was fun. I took the photos with my cell phone camera. Some how the best ones are when my camera is left home.

A B& W copy

We found lot's of good deals I ordered 45 pounds of fresh cut chicken breast for $55.00. And will pick them up Saturday. And bought the potatoes below. We went to a few feed stores and saw bunny's, turkey and chicks. I bought these 3 to test the water, and see if I can be a chicken farmer. I will be getting Dottie the Barred rock hen back soon. Sun shine did not make it through the winter. So I will only have 1 egg layer for now.

I will soon add more vacation photos.

Have a wonderful day and remember to laugh and play.

Oh man, oh man, I want to live with you! I'm dying to try chickens, but we just don't have the room in our tiny yard for them (not unless we got rid of our square foot gardens). Horses and cow and chickens! I'm so jealous!!

Great deal on the chicken breast, babies, and new potatoes! Are you using some of these new potatoes for seed potatoes?

Cows are so much fun. I love the way they come to the fence to say hello. (even though I know they're just thinking you might be there to feed them)

I seem to get caught without my camera all the time! Thank goodness for cell phones, or I would have no pictures at all!

Looks like a good day!

What a fun two days you have had. The pictures are great of the cows and horses drinking. And hurray for all the bargains you found. Enjoy the chicks, they are so cute.

Your cell phone captures some good pictures.... the photographer is what matters :-)

I've done the chicken farming... hated it :-)

Those are some great looking taters.

Love chickens they are so cute. I wish i could have them here but i think the city would have something to say about it although we really don't have any neighbors other than businesses. And i also have to say you did get some great buys on the chicken breast

You got some great bargains at the store. It sounds as if Cullin had lots of fun during his visit with you.

Great pics! I never use my camera phone - don't think of it.
And you got some great deals. The potatoes look especially tasty. Good luck with the chickens.
