Crocheting scarfs

I have been working on crocheting scarfs. So far I have 1compleat and the earth tone one 1/3 complete. I used the video in the post below for the Crocodile Stitch. It is really easy to learn. And really nice to look at.

I have been making more animated photo's too.
This one included a new kitty.

I have finally learned how to animate photos !
The first 2 are cat's on a broom. I painted them with a digital program called Artrage. Then animated them with Photoshop elements v6

This is 2 different photo's set in a loop to sorta look like they are dancing.

Do you find you are just sitting there, And so many amazing thoughts jump in your head ? Then by the time you get to paper or the computer. You have no clue, what they were. The ideal is there. You feel great. Like you just received the answer to some of the whys, floating in your head. But can not write them down to share them. Healing thoughts are amazing!
One of the thoughts were.
We do live in our heads. And our body lives in the house. We create our own reality. By labeling what is happening thew our senses,(Vision, taste, touch, feel). Then we decide to accept or reject it. By judging it as good or bad. We create our own happiness. Or feel trapped.

Where as an animal just is content and happy. Because they have not evolved as much as us. By self analyzing our world. They just live and observe. And have the ability to be content and cope with what ever is thrown there way. My cat Reba, has show me she can be angry. She liked being the only cat. but slowly she is learning to get along with Silk.

Contentment is something I have always struggled with. In the past I always live in the future. Trying to achieve a goal. Or avoid an imagined disaster. I only was able to be content at out old house. I spent many days in my garden. Like painting a picture. I planted a zen garden. I spent hours. Stilling and observing nature. Feeling at peace with the world and my life.

Since we moved. I created impending doom and gloom. By morning what I had. And never unpacking or moving into this house mentally.

I am a person who likes change. But this was a spiral of what I labeled and rejected as unexceptionable.

I have to regain contentment. Or make another change. Silk the new kitty has given me peace of mind. And taken my thoughts off of rationalization.

Catching up

It has been a while since I posted on here. But see what I have. Yep a beautiful new Manx kitty. Her name is Silk. She is so sweet. Full of love and kitty hugs.
My other cat Reba was far from happy to see her. But now a month or so later she is sorta letting Silk live here.
But Silk is amazing. Sweet Silk should be her full name.
We also had a helping hand for a week or so. Yep. It's Jeremy. Look how tall he is now. Him and papaw did a bit of scrapping. And I did a bit of painting on the house. We have plenty left to do. So come on over. I would enjoy the company.

Fun of being a Grammy

Just stopped by to leave a few words. I am still living a silent life. Missing My grandson Jeremy. He is in St. Louis with his dad. I had him contact me on line by skype last night. And boy did he get yelled at. His other grandma come out of her room. Yelling put that away referring to his (his tablet).I had to giggle and let him go. An hour later he was back on face book telling me to skype him back. I was not going to aide him in another round of getting in trouble. Told him to contact me again tonight. But no word as yet. :)  She wanted him quiet and asleep. He is such a good kid. I can not imagine her temper with him.

Using E-cig to quit smoking

Please note: This is not a paid advertisement. I purchased this from a local shop. I am sharing this info in order to help others. And record my results from use. And things I have to learn. There are so many devices and liquids.  I know the on going cost of the device that looks like a cig is too much for me.

I bought  (Vapor X EGO ce4 electronic cigaret), on May 4, 2013.
I had hope this would help me quit smoking. I have a niece in Tennessee, who has had great success with Vaping.

(Vaping definition)  Propylene Glycol or Vegetable Glycerin or a mix of both based liquids, are mixed with small amounts of nicotine and flavoring that get vaporized in a small battery powered atomizer.

I at first experienced coughing and choking. It took many tries to get use to this. I am now almost 24 hours free of regular  cigarets. This morning I woke up with a sore throat. I took a honey and lemon cough drop. It helped.

Yesterday, I put on a nicotine patch to help with with draw.  I had to mix about .2ml chocolate flavor with 1.4ml USA mix. To make the taste more pleasant. These too are VaporX brand products. Both are 50/50 Pv/VG. ( I used a total of about 1.4ml liquid.)

I have been researching the web and watching videos. To learn more. like (Why an I coughing?) I found the coughing can be a way your body is riding its self of tobacco toxins. Or an allergy to PV. I can not get VG base in my area. So I may have to order online. But I am finding I have less congestion in my lungs.  The taste is not like normal brands of tobacco. It is like comparing real chocolate to fake chocolate. I can tell the difference. I even had to learn to inhale differently at first to get use to this. I found it easy to take a puff in through the mouth hold it. Then breath in through the nose to get deep inhale to the lungs with clean air. Then slowly exhale the smoke from the mouth and nose like a normal cig. After a while you are able to inhale the smoke. Try small amounts at a time. When your lungs get cleaner it is easier. I found self talk helps allot. Telling your self this will be good. This is better for your health. But I do not know if this is the truth or a lie. Not enough research or facts to prove it. We are all Guinea pigs. paying to test the products on our self. Only time will tell.

But I have to do this. Cigarets are not killing me. They are only damaging my lungs.

I have quit many times, only to go though some event that triggers my need for a cig. So If I use this device rather than a real cig to fall back on. My lungs may benefit. And my mind will have to learn to be satisfied.

I soon will do a utube video on this.
I would love to test out and review other flavors and E-cigs. I saw where some of the videos were sent products to try out and review. Some of them were so fake. And some were honest. But I think some reviews were educational. And that is what I want to do. Help save people the hours of researching to find out what to buy. .Or they already spent way too much money on what they thought was permanent, only to find it is an on going expense.

 I bought This for $24.99
This it there description of the product. Not my words.
The eGo CE4 Provides a Superior "Throat Hit" over the competition. This device is designed for customers who like a strong throat hit but still have good flavor. The clearomizer holds 1.6ml of e-Liquid combined with a 650mah battery it is considered the "All Day Lollipop" for adults. This is the same unit we offer in Blister Pack  but comes in a Carrying case instead. This device is simple to use and doesn't leak e-Liquid all over your purse or clothing.
• 1-Clearomizer: Average Life is 3-4 weeks
• 1-650mah Battery: Good for 350 recharges (Usage is 8-10 hours between recharges)
• 1-usb Charger
• 1-Carrying Case: Available in Black
• 1-10ml Bottle of USA Mix 18mg e-Liquid

My words:
You have to replace every thing except the case and charger. The charger is only for usb. So you have to buy an adapter for direct wall plug.

I bough a 2nd clearomizer for $9.99 So I could have 2 flavors. The second one is no where as good as the original. It may have too much air and or a leak.  I also may get another battery so I can charge one and use one. So more cost. You really need a kit with 2 of each.
Update: 5/13
I took this back and they replaced the 2nd one that was defective, and gave me a new deluxe kit. With 2 of each.and another e liquid for only $24.99 more.  Good customer service at the store in my area.

Here is a link to my utube video. It would not let me place on the blog for some reason.

Grandkid withdraw

It has been since 2004, that I could call myself an Empty Nester. Sure we had youngest daughter move in for a few months. About 2 years ago. But I have been spoiled with having the first born grandson. On most weekend. And almost all summer last year. Now that he is a teenager. I have had to experience real emptynest syndrome. This past school year we did not get him much at all. It was so lonely with out him. And I did not feel the loss of my own kids as much as I have felt his presents missed. I am amazed by how a grandchild can grab your heart like no other.  I feel better now that he was with us last week end.
And yesterday my youngest and her 2 sons came for an over night visit.
Hubby actually did a bit of running after them with a water gun.
His inner child was out playing.
We hope to have more contact with them. But this set of kids live 2 hours away.
This day marks day 1 of youngest daughter journey as a now single mom of 2.
She is officially now divorced.
And this is a good finally happen.

Working in the garden again

Today I had some help, My granddaughter Jozlyn, was sent home from preschool. So she helped me plant 11 more tomatoes. I recruited hubby to dig the holes. So I was able to get this row done in an hour or so. The other row took me a day and a half. I am not able to do as much as I use too. But any thing is better then nothing. I also started posting on my garden blog again. It has been 3 years since I last grew a garden. You are welcome to visit it at   I uploaded my first garden video to it  today. I hope by blogging it. It will keep me going. And motivated to do more.

Almost garden time

We are so far behind in the state of Missouri. Weather is crazy. Wind, rain, hail, cold, tornadoes. All have been a part of spring in my state. I am one of the lucky ones.We just need to repaint the house. And fix a small leak in the roof.
Thursday was warm enough to plant 11 tomato plants.  I am so out of shape, it took me all day to do this one row. The next day pain all over along with more rain. So I covered the transplants with plastic.
Here is a peek at the ones left to plant, And I am so glad the ones in the ground are doing ok. We may have another day of frost Wednesday.
Walking around the yard, I found many crawdad houses. This is the tallest one.
Yesterday hubby and I went to the Mennonite seed store. I love to see all the horse and buggy's. I purchased the seed packets below, to add to my collection of Heirloom and organic seed. There was proof there too. Not all of them were found in the organic isle. Corn only had 1 yellow and 1 white. In heirloom. .   But could not be places as organic. Because there are no more truly organic corn seed left in our country. Gmo's have crossbred. and contaminated even the corn in Mexico. From what I have read on the internet. I am not an expert on this. So research for your self.. It is scary to think of the future of our descendants. All I can do is plant what I have, And save the seed and pass it on to my grandkids.

Recap on Febuary

I thought I would share this video of our snow falling with tiny hail balls, They were 1/2 the size of styrofoam balls you would find in a bean bag chair.  . I know Angela saw it on face book but not many of you are on it too. I love to see what it is like in your part of the wold as well. We are expecting more snow Monday. This last storm was called thunder snow. As there was lightning and thunder along with hail and sleet. Mother nature sure has many surprises for us. I have to get more propane ordered, as we ran out yesterday. We do not have a gauge to tell us we are low.  So we are always surprised. We use the propane for a fireplace. It helps us in times of extrema cold. We mostly use electric space heaters the majority of the time.

I have been thinking of adding on a green house to the south side of the house. This is just a dream, but you never know. I have solar panels I would put up on the roof or wall. And I saw a number of videos on what is called a rocket stove.  I would love to heat the floor with that. And have that room flow heat into the house in winter. Oh, but it is just a dream.

My seedlings are not all sprouting as well as in the past. The all glass fish tank I had used in the past had better results. But the box lined in trash bags took longer for them to sprout. And many have not sprouted at all.

I also did an experiment. To regrow lettuce from a store bought product. For a post I saw on facebook. I cut off the tops of a red leaf bunch of lettuces, and some green onion.I added enough water to cover the core. about an inch or so. And in s day or so you could see darker green develop in the center. .

With in a week this much has regrown. So It works.
I think what I love the most about this is it puts spring time in my kitchen window. With snow all over the ground on the out side . So I look at it and smile.

Spring fever

Yep, I have a good case of spring fever. Last night I started 18 tomato seeds. All heirloom. (Gold medal, .brandy wine, and flame hillbilly.) Today I am planting a hybrid. Beef master.. Just in case the others fail due to what ever mother nature throws at us. I am not one for gmo food. But this is one of the earliest  hybrids. And are the results of cross pollination. To improve on the health or size of the plant. It to me is not like a test tube modification.  Or chemically engineered product.

Heirloom tomatoes are old varieties grown from seed saved from season to season. Heirlooms are a category unto themselves. They tend to be less disease resistant and "wilder" in appearance. Fans insist that their flavor and uniqueness make up for any disadvantages.
Hybrid tomatoes are developed to give growers the best characteristics of all varieties. Fruit size, crop yield and disease resistance are all traits of hybrids.

I use a small pinch of stuffing like you would use in a pillow or toy. I place it in the bottom of a shot glass size cup. This works well for wicking water  up to the soil, with out soaking the soil. After the plant gets a good start, I transplant it in a 12 oz cup, or a self watering soda bottle. I have had very good results this way.I reuse these cups to replant. So they are not wasted.
I use a box covered with trash bags to make like a green house or terrarium affect. In a few days the seed should sprout.
I took a walk around my yard today and found signs of early or false spring. We have had some warm days. Not normal for this time of year. So I took a few photos.

This is a self watering drum I cut in half to make 2 planters. I have asparagus planted in this one. And should be able to cut off and eat some of it this year. I planted it from seed a few years ago.The sticks you see in it are last years plants. They look like wood sticks. I should have added more dirt..
This photo shows a juice bottle in the corner to add water to the bottom.
It also allows me to see the water level. So I can add more if needed.

The photo below is elephant ear garlic starting to grow already.

I have Iris starting to green up too.  And daffodil are up 2 inches.
So it looks like an early spring is on its way.

If you want more information on how I did the containers please click on this link
It will take you to my old garden blog. I have not up dated it since 2009/10. I gave up on gardening after the summer of 09. Too much rain. And last year drought. This year I am planning to be ready for what ever mother nature throws at us. By using more self watering containers. And or umbrellas. HEHEHE.

Hybrid plants, such as ‘Big Boy’, ‘Beefmaster’ and ‘Early Girl’ tomatoes will produce viable seed. Plants grown from that seed, however, will not be just like the hybrid parents; instead, they will be a completely new combination of the good and bad traits of the plants that were initially crossed. It’s impossible to predict just how the seedling plant will perform or what qualities the fruit will have.
