This was my first time on the trampoline.
It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and we enjoyed it to the fullest.

A cure !

I have been looking for relief for itching caused by the shingles
An awe, Thanks to old fashion kitchen magic. My eldest aunt in Wv and I came up with wonderful relief. She has always looked at nature as a medicine cabinet.

I did online research and knew I wanted aspirin in the mix . It is to help aid in pain management. And crushed oatmeal is used in bath water or directly on poison ivy to dry it up. One thing I did not know was the healing power of milk.
She said she used it in the eyes of her kids for infection and in the eyes of a cat.

So I used 2 crush aspirin maybe 2 tablespoons +/- can milk , as I do not have access to a cow.
And enough crushed oat meal to thicken.
After the first application I went hours with out an itch. Where hydrocortisone cream was needed every 10 minutes.

I used this magic potion, a few times and now my hives are dry and the itch is gone. I still have the pain that is not easy to control. I am on several Dr ordered drugs.

I feel awesome now that I have half the battle of the first week Conquered. I have 3-6 weeks to go.

But I am so happy I get to have Thanksgiving dinner with the kids today at Amy's Home.
Yea! for home remedies !

I have to whine

Please look at My Mojo Monday card below for happy thoughts.

I know I was giving up on whining. But today I have reverted to my old self.

Last week I thought I was bitten several times on my lower back and hip area.
By Thursday blister or hive looking bumps appeared like a rash. Or I thought I was allergic to what ever bit me. Friday it was a bit blistered looking and red. Yesterday brown and black was added to the works. And today I wake up in pain. It was unbearable. I went to the doctor with out an appointment. I was so thankful this new doctor is so kind to see me in and hour or so wait.
I was searching over the weekend and thinking it was a spider bite or bed sores. As I have had fatigue for a while and I though it could be an onset of them.

Well the doctor came in and I was laying on my right side. I could not sit in the chair any longer. I was in pain. She looked and said it is shingles.
My eyes popped out of my head.
I was like A hu. {with a stupid look on my face}.
I thought that was for old people.
I will not show photos. But you should look up images if you want to know what they look like. As I have never seen them till now.
I did allot of research tonight.
I am so thankful it is in this area. And it could be way worse.
It is contagious for the new grandbabys. As they do not have chickenpox shots.
But I have to find out if I just do not touch them if I can still spend thanks giving with them. As this is not airborne. it is direct contact.
I also found this will last 4-6 week and can be debilitating pain.
When this scabs over I should not be contagious any more.

She said this is from me having chicken pox as a kid. The virus stays in your body your hole life. There is a chance this will not happen again. But the good news is the area it showed up in is a small quadrant of my body. It follows a nerve from my spine on the left side and goes around to the front of my body. So this is not a bad area compared to the face. There was such bad photos of people who had it there. They also could go blind as it attacked there eyes.

She said for some reason I have had undue stress that compromised my immune system and that allowed this to wake up. I really wish I know what did that so It will never happen again. I have not been under great stress like I have in the past. I thought I was doing well. But something has to be wrong for this to happen.

This is a list I found of possible causes.
  • stress; Very little,
  • fatigue; I have had this
  • a weakened immune system (This may be age-related, disease-related, or a drug-related decrease in ability to keep the chickenpox virus in an inactive state.) Some how I must have this to get shingles
  • cancer;
  • radiation treatments; I have had several x rays, 1 stress test, 1 cardiac cath. several Mri & cat-scans. Since Jan of last year. Maybe this is the cause.

Do you know much about this?
Or have you seen any one with it?

Yes this worries me.
Pain may last after the rash is gone. This is called postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). About 10%-20% of all shingles patients get PHN. The older the patient, the more likely they will develop PHN, and the pain that develops frequently is severe. PHN pain often lasts months and occasionally may go on for years.
I coped that from this site, it was the most informative. But only had photo of early bumps.

Through the eyes of a child

Jeremy drew this saturday
I colored it in with digital color.
This is his cartoon version of us his grandparents.

My seasons By me.
In the spring time I come alive, full of love and light.
My heart is on fire with garden thoughts, I will never tire.
Summer is ablaze with my thoughts in a daze.
Roses a bloomin and thoughts of the lake are stewing.
Fall is full of color like no other.
Winter is both, dark and light with snow.
Ice sickles growing and fires are glowing.
Snug in my blanket, I dream of spring.

Internet helps

I was reading this on yahoo news today

Link Web Surf to Save Your Aging Brain

The new study takes the use-it-or-lose-it concept into the 21st century.

For the research, 24 neurologically normal adults, aged 55 to 78, were asked to surf the Internet while hooked up to an MRI machine. Before the study began, half the participants had used the Internet daily, and the other half had little experience with it.

After an initial MRI scan, the participants were instructed to do Internet searches for an hour on each of seven days in the next two weeks. They then returned to the clinic for more brain scans.

"At baseline, those with prior Internet experience showed a much greater extent of brain activation," Small said.

After at-home practice, however, those who had just been introduced to the Internet were catching up to those who were old hands, the study found.

I knew this was true from my own usage.

The more I use the Internet to learn the more I feel like I am getting back to normal. As some of you already know, I was in a car accident in 2005, where we were hit from the rear. I hit the back and top of my head . This caused some memory loss, confusion, stress. and some loss of motor skills. I could not turn a screw to install an electrical plug. I hurt my self using a drill to install screws in the sub floor. So I gave up on finishing the rehab to this house I am currently living in.

I have hope that my carpentry skills will return. I will soon start small projects to see if I can do it again. I still have the knowledge. I just need my hands and back to listen.

But my brain is learning. I have moved to more creative things like art, writing. And crafts. My spelling skills have improved. But I still have to read my post several times to see if I made mistakes. My crying wolf post was my first try at telling you a poetic story with out giving you all the details. Not many knew the point I was trying to convey. So I do not know if I succeeded with creative writing on that one.

The meaning of that story was I have a child who is crying wolf.

The mad scientist

Jeremy and I had fun this weekend making brain slime.
It is a glow in the dark substance.
And not to be used with out adult supervision.
It also has a color changing slime too.
He loved them both.
This was a gift from a friend.

I really like to digitally paint on photos.
You should see what Jeremy did with my photo.

Unbelievable

Remember how I waited almost a year, and a few weeks before it was to mine.
Owner #3 paid the back taxes. So I did not get the farm I had hope for.
Well New story with same place.
Tuesday my friend called with grapevine news.
She said so and so said it was burnt to the ground a few weeks ago.
I really did not believe a stone house could be destroyed
Sure all the wood parts.
So hubby went to look and came back yep it was set on fire.
I did not want to see it.
But for some reason yesterday. I thought I could handle it.
So we went around the corner and then made a left.
Look there is smoke.
This it a street, that has allot of fires?
Because the mobile home 2 or so places before it burnt to the ground last year.

No it was just people burning brush off the front of the yard.
But look at what is left of the farm.
This had to be a set fire. The was no electric or gas.
This had to be set. with a gas of some sort.
There is no damage to the surroundings.
Other than maybe tree scorch.

In this photo you can see a yellow tape on the ground. I assume police tape.
We did not get out of the truck and look up close. but the big tree is either weathered or scorched. I can see at least 2 BBQ propane tanks on the ground.
I looked up court records and found on the day I was to be the new owner.
There was a law suite that was dismissed, owners 2& 3 were trying to get owner #1 out of control of the property.
So my conclusion is since #3 owns the property and can not step foot on it.
I would lay odds he torched it.

My friend jumps to the conclusion that If I would have got the property it would have still happened with me in it.
I do not believe this would have happened.
But it was good that we did not get it. Hubby said there goes my dream home.
I told him it was not the house. I loved the stones. They are still there. I loved the front porch it is still there. It was the location. and the feel in the yard and it is still there. But I am not rich and would not want to have to build. So it is no longer of intrest to me as I wanted a home. Even with all the work it took to make it mine.

But the moral of this story is. Things happen for a reason. And it was best I did not get it.

Mojo Monday on Tue

I am a bit late on this one.
It is not easy to just take a lay out and create a great card the same day.
Most if not all do this with paper and stamping.
I do mine digitally.
As I do not have many of the things needed to do this there way.
I used Picassa v3 it is a free program from Google.
And 2 adobe programs to created this card. V4 and V6
I find there is no one program that dose every thing you want.
